The Surface Process of Pizza Ovens
In baking, the surface finish of ovens are a big focus for customers. A good oven surface shows the quality of the workmanship, lasts longer, and meets the needs of customers. This article talks about the surface finishes used in Ovendesign’s ovens. We mainly use brushed stainless steel, mirror polished stainless steel, enameling, powder coating and spray painting.
Mirror polished stainless steel
The mirror finished process is an advanced surface treatment technique that uses exceptionally fine abrasives to make the surface of stainless steel as smooth as a mirror, highly reflective of light, and bright and clear. This is achieved by grinding and polishing the surface several times from coarse to fine.
Pros:
- High gloss: The mirror polish stainless steel surface is extremely glossy and can reflect light like a mirror, enhancing the brightness and modernity of the space.
- Stain resistance: the smooth surface does not easily adsorb dust and stains, cleaning and maintenance is easier.
- Durability: The mirror polish stainless steel surface is denser and can effectively resist scratches and corrosion, extending its service life.
Brushed Finish Stainless Steel
The brushed finish process, also known as abrasive finish, creates a rich straight line or textured effect on the surface of stainless steel by grinding with a high-speed abrasive belt.
Pros:
- Decorative: the brushed finish gives the stainless steel surface a unique texture and feel, enhancing the aesthetics and level of the product.
- Concealment: It can effectively hide the scratches and imperfections on the surface and improve the product’s overall aesthetics.
- Abrasion and corrosion resistance: The brushed stainless steel surface has higher abrasion and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for harsh environments.
Enameling
Enameling is a process by which a metal or non-metallic substrate is coated with an enamel glaze and sintered at high temperatures to form a dense, attractive and corrosion-resistant coating.
Pros:
- Corrosion Resistance: The enamel coating is effectively resistant to acids, alkalis and other chemicals.
- Wear-resistant: high surface hardness, not easy to wear out in long-term use.
- Aesthetics: rich color, high gloss, good decorative effect.
- Easy to clean: smooth surface, not easy to stain, easy to clean and maintain.
Spray painting
Spray painting is a spraying process in which a coating material (paint, ink, varnish, etc.) is sprayed onto a surface by air through a device.
Pros:
- Efficient coating: It can cover large surfaces quickly and evenly, increasing productivity.
- Wide applicability: Suitable for a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, wood, etc.
- High-quality coating: The coating formed is smooth, even, and with strong adhesion, providing good protection.
- Variety of colors: can be modulated to produce rich colors and effects to meet individual needs.
- Flexible construction: spraying methods and parameters can be adjusted according to the shape of the workpiece and specific needs.
Powder coating
The powder coating process is a new type of coating process developed rapidly in recent decades. By its core corona discharge principle, it evenly coats the surface of the workpiece through electrostatic adsorption, and then forms a high-quality coating by heating and curing.
Pros:
- Environmental friendly: powder coating components do not contain organic solvents, minimizing the emission of VOCs.
- Saving resources: the spraying process doesn’t use water or need to treat solid waste. It saves water and avoids waste treatment.
- Recycling: the sprayed powder can be reused by filtering and cyclone recycling, etc., avoiding paint waste.
- High efficiency: the working measures are more simplified. Fast coating and high-temperature curing processes for high work efficiency
- Good coating quality: the powder coating process forms a good coating with high adhesion and mechanical strength, long corrosion resistance, and a flat, smooth surface.
cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning and caring for the surface of your pizza oven is key to maintaining its performance and prolonging its life.
stainless steel
Gentle cleaning. Use a soft cloth to wipe all surfaces with warm soapy water or a mild detergent. Avoid cleaners with acids, alkalis, or organic solvents that can damage stainless steel. Wipe with a clean cloth to keep it dry and prevent rusting. Clean with fresh water regularly. If you live by the sea, clean the oven regularly with fresh water to avoid corrosion and pollution. When cleaning, be careful not to damage the burners and other key components by using water directly.
Dealing with rust. To strengthen corrosion resistance, apply a thin layer of vaseline to the surface of the oven. If there’s any rust on the oven, remove it with an appropriate tool (e.g. polishing brush). After removing it, put on a thin layer of Vaseline.
Maintenance:
Take care to avoid collisions and scratches to protect the surface. Clean regularly to remove oil and stains. Use a stainless steel special care agent to maintain brightness and corrosion resistance.
Enameling
Gentle cleaning. Use warm water and a mild detergent to clean. Avoid strong cleaners that could damage the enamel. For stubborn stains, use baking soda or white vinegar, but dilute them first. Use a soft cloth or sponge to clean. Don’t use rough tools or metal on the enamel surface. Immediately after cleaning, gently dry the enamel surface to avoid water stains.
Maintenance:
In daily use, handle with care to avoid dropping or scratching. Store in a stable environment, away from sharp and heavy objects, and avoid direct sunlight. Polish regularly with a special enamelware polish or a soft cloth. This helps to maintain its luster and beauty.
Spray painting & Powder coating
Gentle cleaning. Wipe with an appropriate solvent or mild soapy water to remove surface dirt.
Treating stains. For stubborn stains, try gently removing them with a soft squeegee or brush, but avoid scratching the surface.
Maintenance:
Avoid contact with sharp or hard objects to avoid damage. Store in a dry, ventilated area to avoid damage from humidity and high temperatures. You can make spray painting surfaces glossy again by polishing them to remove minor scratches and oxidized layers. Inspect powder coating surfaces regularly for damage or peeling. Treat any damage promptly to prevent it from spreading. Cleaning keeps surfaces clean and prevents dust and dirt from building up.
Regardless of the material of your pizza oven, remember to put the protection cover on if you don’t use it for a long time. Clean it off occasionally to prevent dust accumulation.
